Meet Mrs. Southern

Hello!  This is my eleventh year as a resource teacher for students with mild to moderate learning needs.  It is my fifth year with Littleton Public Schools and I absolutely love the strong sense of community established in this district.  I look forward to working with your student and your family.

As a Colorado resident I enjoy backpacking, hiking, camping, skiing, and snowshoeing.  I love playing and reading with my toddler, Joseph, and infant daughter, Brielle.

I originally grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska where I spent 17 years dancing and nine of those years coaching competitive dance.  My alma mater is the University of Nebraska - Lincoln where I earned undergraduate degrees in Elementary Education and Mild/Moderate Disabilities.  I went on to receive my Master's degree in the areas of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment with a centralized focus of Differentiated Learning.  I continue my education by being selective about courses that will improve my classroom instruction.

I always strive to:
1) provide a safe, friendly, child-centered learning community
focused on excellence and success for all students
2) work collaboratively and transparently
with all staff members, parents, and students
3) be an advocate for inclusive education
4) provide differentiated instruction
to ensure that individual needs are met

My classroom is:
